Suddenly it all makes sense.

So I was thinking about taxes today and suddenly it all made sense! And I agree with you all 100%! No new taxes! In fact, lets not pay taxes at all. Sure things will be rough for awhile, what with no public schools, no libraries, no police, no fire department, no roads, no water, no power, no flying, no banking (yeah, they're private but they're insured by gov't) and all the other wonderful things taxes pay for. It sounds terrible right? Well here is the secret: No military.

How brilliant is this plan! No military and eventually we get taken over by Canada! We'll all be Canadian! And you know what that means. Universal Healthcare.

I love this plan.

The only possible flaw is if Mexico beats Canada to the take over but that would still be ok I think because don't they get to take naps in the afternoon? So either I get healthcare or daily naps. Either way... Awesome.

artsy fartsy

There are a half a dozen bizarre and pointless art displays at the Seattle Public Library. One of the worst, in my opinion, is in the escalator running between floors 3 and 5. The wall has been broken out on one side and these enormous eggs have been shoved in the space inside the wall. The eggs have creepy faces projected onto them and the faces say things.

Well today the eggheads were malfunctioning or something and instead of saying a variety (a very small variety) of phrases, they were stuck on one phrase and shouting it loud enough to be heard throughout the library. Not that bad I suppose if it was shouting something like "COME TO THE LIBRARY AND READ" or "KNOWLEDGE IS POWER" or something library related. No, one head was shouting "AROUSE" then muttering something about disposable societies, while the other head was just kind of moaning.

Yeah, that's right. The library is having budget issues. What of it?

sick again

It feels like every time I turn around I'm getting sick this year. I have had two colds already and the stomach flu and now I'm feeling crappy again. This time it is possibly the worst sore throat I have ever had. I have sick leave at work, but I always feel so guilty when I call in. I try to tell myself that it's better to call in, especially when you consider how many of my coworkers have babies and very young children or pregnant spouses. I don't want to get anyone sick, but I also feel like I've been calling in every couple weeks. I guess I should really start taking vitamins. I just wish they could make vitamins come in a smaller format. I mean, is it really necessary to make them the approximate size of an asteroid? Ugh.

missing flash drive

OK. It is gone. I either lost it on the bus and someone has found it and kept it or I lost it at work and someone found it and kept it or I lost it on the street and anyway, it is gone. And I am freaking out a little. Sure, my stories were on there and yes, they're all hard drive saved. But also a few cover letters, my address, my telephone number, all kinds of stuff. I mean, if it's gone, ok, it's gone. I just am worried about my information being out there. Also, some of the query letters and synopsises (synopsisi?) I've written were not on my hard drive, so they are just gone. It's driving me kind of crazy.
