blogging

About a month ago, one of the librarians at work read a review I wrote (for SPL's spring Staff Favs) and thought it was really good. She asked me to write for Shelf Talk, SPL's library blog. I've written a couple reviews for it now. Well, three I guess. One is a combo deal, reviewing two Chris Moore books. The second/third is a review of Rob Thurman's Moonshine. I'm currently working on a review of the Dresden Files. Not going to well. For some reason I can get it to work.
Basically I want to say this: "The Dresden Files is about Harry Dresden, a wizard who gets into a lot of trouble trying to do the right thing. Mostly he gets his ass kicked all over Chicago. There is magic involved. It is funny, you should read it. " Only it's more complicated than that. Not going well. Argh.

Yesterday one of the teen librarians asked me to write for the Teen Blog. I have been reading a lot of YA stuff lately, since the stuff I'm currently working on is about a group of teenagers living in Seattle. They're all cousins and they all have freaky powers. Since I don't really understand "Normal Teen Behavior" I've been reading books to try and brush up. But mostly I've discovered that teenagers are annoying, at least the "normal" ones, so I'm gonna write them however the hell I want.

Back to the original point of that last paragraph--writing for the teen blog. At first I was like WOW I have so many ideas. Now I'm like, crap! I have too many ideas.

And if I can't even get the Butcher Review to work, what am I going to do when I try to review Whatever the hell I end up reviewing? Nonsense, is what it is. Sigh.
